As usual, we had a great time while we were away and are thrilled to be home. Well, except for missing relatives who live too far away. I know we’re the ones who moved, but I don’t know why we can’t convince them to move with our wonderful descriptions of life in Kentucky.

The foals are frolicking in the fields, the forsythia and daffodils are in bloom…and the grass is growing.
In anticipation of the first mowing of the season, Mr. B got out the lawn tractor yesterday to clean it up and change the oil.
I saw him examining the engine closely and went over to him. “A mouse just ran [...]

I wasn’t that suprised to see a man in a Gap sweatshirt and khakis hanging out near the customer service counter at Best Buy. I found it a little odd that he was wearing his sunglasses inside. And I did a bit of a double-take when I heard him talking to himself, but [...]

No sooner did the stupid groundhog see his shadow, indicating 6 more weeks of a winter that had never actually started here, than we got a couple of inches of snow. That was on Friday night.
It’s now Monday morning. So how come it’s still here? And what’s this with sub-freezing temperatures? [...]

Mr. B and I had occasion this weekend to take a long drive in the country. (I’d like to say we did it just to spend some quality time together, but full disclosure requires me to say we had dropped BD off a friend’s house.)
We were happily chatting away, when he suddenly slammed on the brakes, and [...]

Bad news: a good friend had emergency hand surgery the other night after accidentally cutting through two tendons in his index figure.
Good news: since he and his wife didn’t feel up to using their tickets to the U of L game last night, she called and offered them to Mr. B & me.
Bad news: Mr. B was [...]

We finally got our first real snow of the winter. Just enough for a two hour delay in the school schedule. And just enough to probably melt by the time school lets out.
Despite the delay, BD was still rushing to get ready for the bus, of course.
One of her friends apparently didn’t rush enough. Her mother [...]

As BD & I were eating breakfast this morning, a wild thunderstorm was raging. The kind that makes your heart jump when the lightning flashes. The kind that usually comes in the summertime, not the middle of winter. Fortunately, BD has a slicker with nice, warm pile lining, so I told her to put that on.
Apparently, [...]

We were in a neighbor’s basement, watching the Gator Bowl with them. Our Cardinals had just lost the lead they’d held since the opening series of the game. There were tornado warnings southwest of us, but before the storm even hit our area, the power went out. And stayed out. Unlike our basement, theirs has [...]
