Thought for the Day

If you delete a user account and XP shows you a message about saving that user’s files in a folder on your desktop, that message is a prompt, not a promise.  Save them yourself as XP is not going to do it automatically.

2007 Year in Review

For the third year in a row, I give you my year in review, consisting of the first sentence from the first blog post of each month. For those with too much time on their hands, there is a link to each post.
January: Here’s what the Bluegrass Family is anticipating for 2007.
February: Just [...]

Why Santa Uses Elves instead of Cats

You can see why here.

Another Christmas Meme

Shamelessly stolen from Busy Mom.
1. Wrapping or gift bags? Some of each. I like the fact that gift bags are more eco-friendly. And easier for oddly-shaped gifts.
2. Real or artificial tree? One of each. A real one in the living room, and a small artificial one in the family room. [...]

Get a Clue, People!

Apparently there are still people out there who believe that (insert name of just about any company here) can somehow track their forwarded emails and will send them a gift certificate for sending on an email about their company.
Just in case you are one of these suckers non-techno-savvy people, this is not only not true, [...]

Blog Action Day

Go figure. Post a “semi-retirement” post, and a blog inspiration hits you in the face half an hour later.

Turns out that today is “Blog Action Day,” where bloggers are encouraged to post about the environment.
I’ve mentioned before that as a family we are a bit compulsive about recycling. I am constantly amazed [...]

Why?

As in, “Why blog?”
Yeah, I’m going through one of those rough blogging patches. I started blogging as a way to keep friends and family up to date.  A few of them read it, some more regularly than others.  Other readers (and I only have a handful of regular ones) are people I’ve “met” through their [...]

Tag, I’m It!

BlondeMom tagged me for a meme where I tell you fascinating things about myself based on the first letters in my middle name. Easy for her, with the middle name “Lynn.” While my three sisters all have middle names with three or four letters, mine is “Elizabeth.” Up until now, I always [...]

Why I Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Own a Computer

When I got home from running errands, I unloaded the grocery bags, then sat down quickly to make sure I didn’t need to renew any of my library books online.
Then I checked my e-mail.
Then I ran through my Blogroll, leaving plenty of clever comments.
I also ordered a numeric keypad for my laptop.
I even did a couple [...]

How Do You Pronounce “Meme,” Anyway?

I stole this one from Busy Mom, though I’ve seen it around before.
Tell 9 truths and one lie about yourself.  Which is kind of hard if I exclude My 100 Things.
1.  I was born several days late but weighed less than 5 pounds.
2.  HS and I rarely use up our combined cell phone minutes each [...]
