Chutzpah

Our next-door-neighbor’s driveway runs parallel to ours, meaning it is also relatively long and steep. As of yesterday evening, he had not moved his car or shoveled any snow.
Apparently, he went out last night.
I know this, because this morning we found his car parked at the top of OUR driveway.
UPDATE:  The joke’s on him.  [...]

Surviving the Storm

Several inches of snow, followed by 1/2 inch or more of ice, followed by a few more inches of snow.  This is the reason I no longer live in upstate New York, but every few years we get hit with it.

Suddenly I felt a thump.
That’s when I realized that the [...]

Another Year, Another Birthday

How on earth did my baby girl get to be 14?

Testing Our Resolution

Mr. B and I started the new year determined to stick to our budget.
This was made tough even before the year began when we spent some time at his brother and sister-in-law’s new house and got our first real taste of HDTV.
We want one. We really want one.
But we agreed that we would try [...]

2009 Year in Preview

Once again, I try my hand at prophesy.
January:  BD turns 14 on the 10th.  With any luck, we’ve taken down the Christmas tree by then
February:  Once again, Mr. B and I eschew gifts for Valentine’s Day and settle for a quiet diner a deux, probably at home.
March:  Warm weather gives us false hope before the [...]
