I am happy to announce that yesterday the Colgate Raiders came back from a 10 point halftime deficit to beat Holy Cross for the Patriot League football championship! As is only fitting for a school in upstate New York, they played in the snow.
Five years ago Colgate was runner-up for the I-AA national championship. The NCAA in its infinite wisdom has since renamed I-AA the “Football Championship Subdivision.” Perhaps because the champion is actually determined by a playoff system. Which, for whatever reason, is simply not feasible for I-A (excuse me, the Football Bowl Subdivision). But I digress.
Anyway, I will be following my alma mater closely in the playoffs. Perhaps another trip to Chatanooga is in our future–if so, let’s hope it has a happier outcome than last time.
