I had a scary dream last night.
In this dream, Mr. B and I were the proud parents of a darling baby boy.
The odd thing was that I wasn’t quite sure where this baby had come from.
Fortunately, I found his story written up in our local paper. Apparently, we had adopted one of a pair of identical twins. He was 13 days old. Some old friends of ours (whom we haven’t seen in years) had been his foster parents. I think his name was Kevin. Or maybe Keith.
We had no baby items on hand, not even a crib. Mr. B seemed to think this was no problem, as the baby could just sleep with us. While I know this is the norm in some families, it’s not a concept we ever embraced.
I distinctly remember turning to Mr. B in my dream and asking him, “Do you have any idea how old you’ll be by the time he graduates from high school?”
I didn’t do the math in the dream, but I did it as soon as I woke up. Mr. B would be 73 at Kevin/Keith’s graduation.
This evening, I finally found a few minutes to tell Mr. B about this dream. I prefaced it with an explanation that I’d had a pretty scary dream.
Before I could go any further, Mr. B interrupted. “It can’t be as bad as the one HS told me he had the other day. He dreamed that he came back to visit us a couple of years from now and he had a 2 year old little brother.”
Now I’m REALLY scared.

Wow, that is creepy! Look out, kid #3 could be on the way!
Just in case, remember that in a pinch, an empty dresser drawer can serve as a makeshift crib… Well, take it out of the dresser. It wouldn’t go over well to put the baby in the drawer and then close it…
Thumpers last blog post..
I called HS to tell him about the eerie coincidence, and was very relieved to find out that Mr. B had gotten it wrong.
HS dreamed that he had a baby SISTER.
So, Drew, I’ll pass on that crib. Lisa, bite your tongue! Thumper, another friend suggested the drawer, too. Personally, I think the cat bed would have worked well, since the cats never sleep in it, anyway.
But ya know, that’s when the cats would decide they NEED that bed… Mine would just plop down on the kid, and probably give him or her a bath…
Thumper, too true! Maybe I could put the cat bed in that dresser drawer…
