Ice Age

At the rate I’m going, I may need to add another category called “Weather.” February 2008 has brought at least one big weather “event” per week. On Thursday, we had a nasty ice storm. Schools let out as early as 10 AM, and most were still closed on Friday.

While the roads have been pretty much clear since late Friday morning, the ice is still coating most tree limbs (the ones that didn’t fall down from the weight of it in the first place). Today we’ve had a few light snow showers, which coated the ice. I can’t imagine this is good for the trees, but it does have an eerie beauty.

The trees aren’t the only ice sculptures. Here’s a bench on our patio…

…and peach tree:

And last, but not least, because this IS Kentucky, I give you our basketball hoop:

Well, when the weather makes a mess of roads, it is nice to sit back and look at the beauty is makes with everything else! What else can you do?
