Oops, I Did It Again

Once upon a time, I almost burned down the house by setting the oil in a wok on fire. You can read about it here.

Yes, I did the exact same thing again. This time Mr. B was also in the room, and we were BOTH on computers with our backs to the stove. I would like to give him an equal share of the blame, but I’m the one who put the oil in the wok and turned it to high to heat while I checked “one quick thing,” which turned into a couple of not-so-quick things while I completely forgot about the oil. And he’s the one who put out the fire when I couldn’t get the replacement fire extinguisher to discharge (it was not the same kind I raved about in the other post, which seems to be out of production).

Let’s just hope I’m twice burned, forever shy. The scorch marks on the wooden handles of the wok will serve as a reminder. And yes, I’ve already bought a new fire extinguisher which even I can figure out.

YIKES! I have heard that flour or baking soda will put out an oil fire too. Glad you got a new extinguisher and really hope it never happens again!
