I like to be surprised on Christmas. Once I know that Mr. B has started stashing stuff in his closet, you couldn’t pay me to go in there.
BD, on the other hand, is a snoop. I usually put the gifts from out of town family and friends under the tree as they arrive. One year when BD was about 7, I realized that each and every gift with her name on it had a little tear in a corner of the wrapping. Santa must have caught on, too, because we noticed that his gifts to her that Christmas were all sealed with big wide packing tape.
This year I have frustrated her because I found a new spot to hide her gifts and she can’t figure out where they are. I keep asking her why she expects any presents.
And if she doesn’t straighten up her attitude in the next day or two, I may call my own bluff.
Song running through my head: “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” Specifically the line that says “And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.” And today is only her second day off!

I was taught early on that those who snoop don’t get presents..so I am like you, I don’t even care to look for my gifts…I want surprises! My kids have been taught the same thing, although I have been told they get up very early Christmas morning to see what’s under the tree, since I don’t put any gifts out (or Santa) until they are in bed!
This made me laugh! I’m afraid I was just like BD when I was young!
And good for your husband… Just yesterday, mine asked me to create a wishlist on Amazon. Like they’d get here on time!
(I saw your tag — just haven’t gotten around to it yet!)
I was always a snooper. I don’t like the surprises, I like the snooping! I was just having that same line run through my head yesterday!
Rosie isn’t a snoop, but she no longer believes in Santa due to her cat hiding under my bed where all her presents were. Thank goodness they were already wrapped! LOL
We’re homeschoolers. ;o)
