The Morning After

Mr. B and I enjoy Valentine’s Day.

We don’t make a huge deal out of it, but we exchange cards and have a nice meal together.  Yesterday was no exception.

Well, the one exception is that he actually got me a gift, and I am doing my best not to feel guilty that I didn’t get him one.  And I’m succeeding pretty well, to tell the truth.

Most of our dates these days are for lunch, since we have pretty flexible work schedules (at the moment, my paid work schedule consists of a couple of hours every two or three weeks).  So we met for lunch yesterday at a nice Italian place.  We rolled out of there so stuffed that we changed our dinner plans from veal to soup.

BD has a Bible study that meets on Wednesday nights, so while Mr. B dropped her off, I was busy trying to set the mood at home.  With only a ten minute window of opportunity, though, I had to make some hard choices.

Should I finish setting the table and lighting the candles, or take care of a personal grooming issue?

The table got set eventually.

Beautiful table you set there, Lady – um…just out of curiosity…did you let the wax cool, this time?

I still can’t bring myself to buying one of those – especially after reading about “the waxing incident” and I find what works for me is, well, you probably don’t want to know.

ooh, looks nice! I didn’t get Pat a gift either, but I let him have a piece from the box of candy he bought me!

Liz, “Once burned, twice shy” works for me. I’ve been burn free since that post.

Annie, Oooh, can I have a piece, too?

Wow, nice setting! Our Valentine’s consisted of Eric getting in from TX at 4:15, meeting Morgan and me at the DMV so she could get her permit, heading home, he gave me a card, I had Ashley sing him “But I Can’t Help Falling In Love” (they sang that all day at school for a fundraiser), then we ate Subways and I took Morgan and Katie to volleyball practice. When I returned home, he was snoring! Pretty romantic, no?
