Peripheral Vision is a Wonderful Thing

Mr. B and I had occasion this weekend to take a long drive in the country. (I’d like to say we did it just to spend some quality time together, but full disclosure requires me to say we had dropped BD off a friend’s house.)
We were happily chatting away, when he suddenly slammed on the brakes, and [...]

Back in Business

I’m sure this will surprise no one, but I wasted no time in replacing our defunct microwave. Not only does the new one have a “popcorn” button, it has no less than eight other sensor buttons. And that doesn’t include the three for reheating and four for defrosting (heaven forbid it [...]

It Was So Sudden

Yesterday I put something to heat in the microwave. I went out to get the mail. I came back in, took the dish out of the microwave and shut the door. Suddenly, with a weak little beep, the lights on the touchpad went out. And that was the end of 15 [...]

Bad News, Good News

Bad news: a good friend had emergency hand surgery the other night after accidentally cutting through two tendons in his index figure.
Good news: since he and his wife didn’t feel up to using their tickets to the U of L game last night, she called and offered them to Mr. B & me.
Bad news: Mr. B was [...]

In Case You Were Wondering

The cold is doing much better, thank you. In fact, I’m even drinking coffee instead of tea this morning.
Last night in BD’s room, I found that “to do” list. Turns out I’d used the back of it to write a list of things she needed for a last-minute sleepover and I left in it her [...]

(Looking for) Tea & Sympathy

Hot tea – check.
Tissues – check.
Decongestants – check.
Humidifier – check.
Day off to nurse my cold – not gonna happen.

More on the Interpretation of Dreams

My latest dream was much more fun that the last one.
This time, I had bought myself a red Corvette.
The only problem was, I didn’t remember buying it. I only knew that I had bought it and was having a case of buyer’s remorse. I knew that a new Corvette was just way too [...]

Time Flies

She was in 7th grade. Bright, perky, responsible, and right around the corner. The obvious choice for one of our first babysitters when we moved here fifteen years ago.
Now she teaches school herself and is married to another teacher.
And this morning she had a baby girl.
I’m happy for them all. Really. [...]

Woman on a Mission

Inspired by a post by my friend Annie, I’ve made a “to do” list for today. It’s still growing and already has 16 items on it. Sad to say, “Blogging” isn’t one of them.
So, I’m off to get started. I’ll check back in later and let you know how it went.

Snow Delay

We finally got our first real snow of the winter. Just enough for a two hour delay in the school schedule. And just enough to probably melt by the time school lets out.
Despite the delay, BD was still rushing to get ready for the bus, of course.
One of her friends apparently didn’t rush enough. Her mother [...]
