Today’s Playlist

Not owning an iPod, I don’t really have a “playlist.” But BamaMom tagged me to list five of my favorite songs, and since I didn’t know what I’d post about today anyway, I thought I’d do it right away instead of stalling a few days like I usually do with tags.

Hmmm, how to pick just five, though?

1. Well, I gotta have some Bruce Springsteen (10 years in New Jersey will do that to a person), so I’ll pick “Mary’s Place” from The Rising.

2. My son turned me onto Relient K a few years back, so I’ll include “Mood Rings” which is ever so appropriate in a house with a prepubescent girl and a perimenopausal woman. It’s on their album Two Lefts Don’t Make A Right…But Three Do.

3. I recently bought Adoration: The Worship Album by the Newsboys. I love the whole album, but I guess I have to pick one song from it. Okay, eeny meeny miny mo, I’ll go with “He Reigns.” And for the record, one of the Newsboys has long bleached hair, but at least he doesn’t have long dark roots to go with it.

4. In the interests of equal time (or at least some amount of representation), let’s go with a woman. Carole King’s Tapestry is one of my all-time favorite albums (one of the few I actually replace on CD when I already owned it on vinyl). I sing along with the entire album, but I’ll pick one. Oh, this is killing me! Okay, “Where You Lead.”

5. Since I listen to a lot of Broadway musicals, let me pick a show tune. I love Guys and Dolls, so how about the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament?”

That’s five, and I can’t believe I didn’t include Eric Clapton or Bonnie Raitt or Credence Clearwater Revival or The Beatles or Philips, Craig & Dean. If I had more time, I’d do my top 10.

Now, then, who to tag? As usual, whoever would like to do it! Perhaps anyone else who was stumped for a subject today?

Oooh, I’d have gone with Luck Be A Lady but other than that I have no clue who the rest are!

    (OK, Bruce Springsteen I know! ;-) )

I have all of PC&D’s cds! And we love the Newsboys. When SugarBear was smaller, he would sing “All God’s people sing, Goalie Goalie, hallelujah, He Reigns!” Big sister had started soccer by then. So very very cute!
