Poor Girl

BD is upstairs at this very moment with her face in her pillow.

This morning we headed out for her riding lesson. She has begged for them for years, but the budget and schedule never allowed for it. A neighbor recently started offering them for about half the usual rate, and was willing to fit in a few lessons for BD before school and swim practice start back up. Today was her second lesson, and we drove the 10 miles to the farm where they’re held, and were about to open the barn when my cellphone rang. The teacher had cancelled the lessons, due to the heat. Unfortunately, she’d forgotten to tell us, since BD isn’t one of her Monday regulars.

Meanwhile, a friend was coming to spend the night tonight. Her mom just called to say that the friend has had 2 sleepwalking episodes this week, and even went outside during one of them. Sleepover cancelled. She’s still coming to play this afternoon, will stay for dinner and is coming back tomorrow morning, but it’s just not. the. same.

So we’re meeting Mr. B for lunch at her favorite Chinese place.

UPDATE: It’s amazing what a little soy sauce and back-to-school shopping can do for a girl. I hereby pronounce BD fully recovered from her misery. At least till the next little ripple in her life. Remember: we don’t call her “the Drama Queen” for nothing.

Awww. Things like that are important at her age.

There are so many disappointments like that for kids. I would never want to go through it again.

I’m glad she has recovered. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone could be so easily appeased.

Somehow, disappointments seem so much bigger when you’re small. I’m glad BD was cheered by soy sauce & school shopping (loved that when I was a kid, too).

Oh, and Hi, Michele (kinda) sent me LOL!

I want to go back to school shopping… oh wait, I’m not in school.

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news…but this type of thing doesn’t let up as they age! My daughter is 17….and a drama queen…just more drama! Sorry! Glad things perked up for her. Shopping therapy always works for me! :)
