Movie Review: Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

It occurred to me that I never followed up this with a review of Revenge of the Sith, which we saw on Sunday. If you haven’t seen it yet, be warned there may be spoilers below. But I promise not to tell you than Anakin turns into Darth Vader.

Still no Liam Neeson, but a huge improvement over Episode II. However, even Mr. B noticed how much they diminished Padme’s character. She went from being a strong, independent woman to a sniveling homebody. Her death was completely unbelievable and out of character, at least based on the first two movies.

It was kind of cool to see Yoda actually doing Jedi type things with a light saber instead of just spouting his grammatically-impaired wisdom. But I wonder if George Lucas really wanted the audience to laugh out loud when Yoda burst in on the Emperor and knocked out two guards with a wave of his hands. And I’m sure he didn’t expect anyone to get a fit of the giggles during the subsequent fight scene between the old man and the little Muppet (I did manage to suppress them rather quickly, but breathing was a bit difficult for a moment or two).

HS told me his ranking of the Star Wars movie is very easy. From best to worst: 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. I’d probably have to go with 5, 4, 6, 1, 3, 2. Then again, I never was a real math whiz.

I sort of think the only good one was the first(4th? original, that works)one. Over time expectations were lowered enough to enjoy the others (I did) but I don’t the the term good movie is really accurate.

Yeah, I agree with your rating system. The first two made me sleepy. But this one and the 3 from my childhood, I loved.

BTW- I’ve tagged you for a meme over at my place:-)
