I am shocked that no one has asked what BD finally decided to buy at Target yesterday. Perhaps you were all just too polite to ask such a personal question.
Yeah, I’m sure that’s it. People who read blogs don’t like to pry into other people’s business. Uh huh.
Never fear. I’m going to tell you, anyway.
I had always told BD that she could start shaving her legs when she needed to shave her underarms. Who thought it would happen at age 10? I keep warning her that she’ll be sorry she started, but what girl wants to wait? She is, however, less than thrilled with the Colgate shaving cream and Flicker-can’t-cut-yourself-razor I gave her. Mean mom that I am, I told her she’d have to pay for any upgrades herself.
So, my little girl bought herself some girl-y shaving gel and a new razor.
What ever happened to Barbie dolls and My Little Pony?

I know how you feel, my daughter is 13 and she started shaving at about 11 and i felt so old…. I realized that she was no baby anymore….
My daughter held out as long as she could ~ heeding my warnings of “once you start” … but we made a ceremony of it with the razor and the cream.
Then mom went in her room and cried.
Why? partly because my baby is growing up (she’s 12), partly because she now takes 15 minutes longer in the shower!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, we are going through that discussion right now, too!
Oh my! Girls seem to be growing up so much faster these days!
Girl-y shaving gel is much nicer…see how smart she is. Of course we all know that she will regret having started shaving so early…then it will finally be your turn to be smart. Although she will not admit that for several more years.
I have extra thick dark hair, also curly, so that carried over to my legs and pits. (yes, my leg hair will curl and frizz if it gets long enough!) I had to start shaving at that age, too.
You’re not old when your baby starts shaving, your old when you discover you have stray chin hairs!
I couldn’t wait to shave either. It is a female rite of passage. Did she but lots of those little band-aids for all the boo-boos?
Gearing up for the same thing with Princess…fact is the girl has really dark hair on her legs and I’m afraid she’s gonna get teased this summer – big conflicting mama emotions. Wishing for the Polly Pocket and Strawberry Shortcake days again.
Oh great…what I have to look forward to. I didn’t start shaving until I was 12 – I think. The first time I did it I really hurt myself. You see, I didn’t realize you needed to use water. Ouch!
