Don’t you hate it when you don’t realize that someone’s moved into your neighborhood until they’re about to move out?
We only discovered this robin’s nest on our garage downspout on Sunday, and by Monday the fledgings had already flown the coop. We’ll be watching out for a second nesting in a month or two.
We’ve just been enjoying the holiday weekend. No big plans. Just good company, good weather, good food (including a trip to Dairy Queen for a Cappucino Heath Blizzard).
What more could I want?
I am shocked that no one has asked what BD finally decided to buy at Target yesterday. Perhaps you were all just too polite to ask such a personal question.
Yeah, I’m sure that’s it. People who read blogs don’t like to pry into other people’s business. Uh huh.
Never fear. I’m going to tell you, anyway.
I had [...]
Yup, I am one proud mama today. But I’m not bragging about my kids this time. No sir, I’m bragging about me.
BD finally decided to spend the last $4.16 she had left on a Target gift certificate she got for Christmas. So off we went to fight our way through the construction at the store.

There’s nothing like the prospect of a 25th college reunion for motivation. I’ve actually started eating better the past couple of weeks, but it’s been months since I’ve gotten any regular exercise. Of course, I’m not going to drop 15 pounds in the 10 days between now and the reunion, but I’d like to be [...]

I always have mixed feelings about the end of the school year. While I certainly appreciate the extra [...]
Growing up in a family of six children, we developed some odd traditions. For one thing, it was always considered a big treat to be the one to open a brand new jar of peanut butter. Maybe because that meant we didn’t have to dig down to the bottom of the jar to [...]
About 10 days ago, HS came home after the end of his college semester. Last year at this time, he was just starting to realize how hard it can be to find a summer job. Especially for an ambitious kid who wants to use his talents. I tried to explain to him that 18 year olds [...]
Mr. B & I went to Churchill Downs the other day, where we made a nice donation to their renovation fund. While watching the horses and the races is fun, you really get your money’s worth there by watching the people. I thought I’d pass along a few comments I didn’t get the chance to [...]
One of HS’s friends (a vegan): “I almost threw up when I ate seaweed this morning.”
And this came as a surprise to him?
