Happy Days

I have tons to do today. The basement is still half painted, the house is in desperate need of cleaning, BD’s birthday sleepover is tonight and I actually have to bake a cake for it. But instead of worrying about all that, I think I’ll take a few moments to reflect on the things that made me happy this week

The sun finally came out again. True, the temperature dropped 30 degrees in the process, but we’ve emerged from the gray gloom we’d been in since Christmas, so I’ll accept the cold. As if I had a choice.

BD was not only pleasant most mornings, but she even kissed me good-bye TWICE as she left for school this week. She’s not usually into kissing. Good policy with boys, but not with parents.

Millie, the cat, has also been very affectionate. I especially love petting her soft winter coat. She hasn’t kissed me, but she did try to lick peanut butter off my fingers the other day.

The Christmas thank you notes are finally ready to mail so I can stop nagging the kids about them.

Mr. B & I went out on a dinner date Thursday night with a gift certificate we’d received. As a bonus, we managed to spend just 9 cents over the amount of the certificate (tip not included, but since the service was so-so, it wasn’t that high).

I was Michele’s site of the day yesterday–that was a real treat, and I hope at least a few of you are back and that you have some happy moments from this week to keep you going.

Cat, sounds as if you’ve had a pretty good week! And I’m SO glad the sun came out for you. Today it’s gray and cold here, but I’ll take it (like you said, as if we have a choice). Keep up the good work!

I’m still here! As a former recipient of Michele’s largesse, I have to say that some will only come for the one comment but that those that stay and keep reading are real treasures. :-)

Hope the sleepover is going well! Don’t you love dining gift certificates? I like getting them for places we’ve never tried before- we found a great little Thai place that way!
