Where Have They Gone?

There are some things that one almost expects to lose. No one is terribly surprised when the occasional sock disappears in the laundry. Nor is it a big mystery when the yummy snacks you stashed in the pantry are no longer there when you go to fetch them. And I don’t know anyone who hasn’t misplaced a set of car keys from time to time.

But I don’t know anyone else who can’t keep track of their nail clippers. I’ve lost track of how many pairs I’ve purchased over the past few years. I don’t want to point fingers (especially since I haven’t been able to trim my fingernails in awhile), but I never had this problem until my kids were old enough to trim their own nails. I’ve bought enough pairs for everyone (more than once) and even tried writing initials on them with nail polish. They still disappear. And once they lose theirs, they borrow mine. And lose them. At least they claim to lose them. It seems to me that the missing clippers should eventually turn up somewhere, but they haven’t so far. I’m beginning to suspect that the kids are selling them on eBay.

The set of nailclippers I use on Tim just turned up missing, too. Maybe they’re off at a convention or something?

The only clippers around here that don’t get lost on a regular basis are the toenail clippers. Go figure.

See, you’re not the only one. I too have bought many pairs of clippers, only to have them “disappear”. According to my kids, they haven’t used my clippers, so mine must just have feet or wings and hide themselves. My friend Alex got me a manicure set for Christmas (she was here once when I was complaining about missing clippers) and shortly after I opened them, I noticed the clippers were missing. Luckily, *THAT* time, Morgan admitted to having them in her room, which I made her go get at that moment!

Hmmm, apparently this is a bigger problem than anyone knew. I wonder why it isn’t publicized as much as disappearing socks.

Funny that you mention that! I couldn’t find our nail clippers the other day & it was driving me nuts. I happened to stumble on them in the car!!!Marie

I don’t understand it and I’m not saying it’s related, but I have 6 of the things in the drawer in my bathroom.

    Proud Moment Ahead:

I not only know where my nail clippers are but I also know where the extra one is. Oh yes, I am suddenly feeling oh-so-proud of myself.

So there! Oh no. Sad moment ahead:

Please do not mention to anyone how sad it is that the nail clipper location is a source of pride for me. It is quite a sad revelation actually.

    I’m impressed.

I don’t go through that much angst when I misplace my keys and I’m running late.

I gues my priorities need adjusting.

You apparently are unaware of the fairies…the fairies that come in the dark of night, while you are in the bathroom, on the phone, getting your coffee, they are the ones..the one who have removed your “stuff” to another universe. It’s all there—everyone’s missing stuff.
Now to find a flight to that place and reclaim our belongings…

It’s not just the clippers but the eyebrow tweezers. Darn those grooming implement fairies!
